Move On When Reading Information

Glendale Elementary School District # 40 works with Arizona’s Move on When Reading policy which is designed to provide students with evidence-based, effective reading instruction in kindergarten through third grade in order to position them for success as they progress through school, college, and career. The legislation in A.R.S §15-701, A.R.S §15-704, and A.R.S §15-211 explains the requirements for pupil promotion, early literacy instruction, and accountability for student achievement in reading.

All kindergarten through third grade students receive a Move On When Reading notification letter in their backpacks to be given to parents within the first weeks of school. Students that are struggling and in danger of not moving on based on data, will recieve notification from their teacher every grading period with information about the students progress on the early literacy skills that are assessed with iReady. Students will recieve supports in the classroom to help intervene with needed skills.
