Dr. Sandra Johnson is currently the superintendent in the
Glendale Elementary School District, a growing district of seventeen
(17) schools serving approximately 14,000 preschool through eighth
grade students. Dr. Johnson assumed the responsibilities as
superintendent in Glendale on July 1, 2007. She spent the previous
four months in the district working with the Board and previous
superintendent to prepare for the 2007-2008 school year. Prior to
coming to Glendale Elementary, she served as the Chief Instructional
Officer for Metropolitan Nashville Public Schools for the past six
years.
Other public school districts in which Dr. Johnson has been employed
include Corona Norco Unified School District, Poway Unified School
District, and Alhambra City Schools, all in California.
Dr. Johnson has been an Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and
Instruction, a Director of Learning Support Services, a high school
principal, and an elementary and high school assistant principal.
She taught for eleven years at both the elementary and secondary
levels, beginning her teaching career in Flowing Wells School
District in Tucson.
Dr. Johnson earned a doctoral degree in Educational Leadership from
Northern Arizona University, a Master’s Degree in Educational
Administration from National University in San Diego, California,
and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education from the
University of Arizona. Dr. Johnson also has a major in English.
