Energy Management Installations:
We have completed the field work at American, Bicentennial North, Bicentennial South, Discovery, Desert Garden, Coyote Ridge, and Desert spirit. We are currently working on Horizon and will then move to Burton. Formal training will be conducted by Arizona Control Specialist in four hour increments. – Bac-net
Roofing Projects:
Since July 1st we have removed and replaced approximately 112,244 square feet of roofing.
The roofing material we specified at Challenger is a HYPOLON 20 year high reflective material with an R-6 insulation addition.
At Bicentennial North we specified a built up roof with aggregate for UV protection, as well as service protection
Structural Repairs:
Mensendick School has had a structural failure due to a broken waterline. Rod Petricek, your risk manager, has worked with our underwriter to procure funds for the repairs and not impact premiums.
Desert Garden has had a settling problem that is associated with compaction and we have petitioned the SFB for funding for the repairs.
Fuel Tank Conversion:
June 1st, we will start a conversion of our fueling system. This project will enable us to fuel all our diesel powered vehicles on site. Eric Kissel, your Transportation Director, initiated the discussions which lead to the discovery of a method to recover in excess of $30,000.00 annually.
Safety and Security:
All the schools and the District Office have been rekeyed and we are in the process of rekeying the Student Service Center. The SSC installation will conclude a three year project to secure all buildings in the district and establish a sense of accountability.
CCTV has been installed, had existing systems added too and others are in various stages of design. Initial indications are a 95% drop in unsanctioned events.
Security System key pads will soon be monitored district wide. The system is web based which allows for access from our offices or remote access as rights are granted. Computer generated codes are assigned annually to individuals which, again, allows for entrance and exit accountability. Dean Wallace is the lead on this project, as the security team works directly under his tutelage.
In the event of a breach, or a change in staffing, an assigned code may be removed immediately from the system.
The proximity reader at the District Office is recently operational. Through the efforts of HR, IT and our project manager, Patrick Calvin; we were able to integrate the card reader, KRONOS time system and individual existing photographs in to the new access cards.
We have also installed fencing at sites to move visitors to the office areas before entering the schools.
HVAC Projects:
We replaced several multizone A/C units with independent heat pumps to conserve power and reduce maintenance costs
We removed and replaced the classroom ductwork in classroom areas at Landmark and Challenger
The cooling tower at Challenger has been replaced and is functioning well. As changes are made at each site, we will monitor the Kwh usages to insure that systems are functioning as designed.
Maintenance Work Orders:
From July 1st, 2008 through March 31st, 2009 we have completed 5,212 work orders district wide. That equates to approximately 29 work orders per eligible work day (182) at an average cost of $79.25 per work order. The 5,212 work orders were accomplished while allowing for a loss of 353 man/woman work days due to vacations, illness and personal business. The efforts of staff have resulted in a 50% reduction of outsourced services over the last 24 months.
Omitted:
Landscape projects for curb appeal, parking lot projects, office remodeling projects, ceiling replacement projects, kitchen remodeling projects, fencing, etc have yet to be introduced.
Projects:
From May of 2008 through October of 2009 our loss of revenue for building renewal will be in excess of $1,344,000.00.
We presently have identified $8,779,000.00 in projects that need completion over the next 48 months.
The trickle down of federal dollars is extremely important in this financial climate.
