GIFTED PROGRAM

In Social Studies we have already studied North American Indian groups and exploration. In January, we learned about the American Colonies and the French and Indian War. Now, we are heading into the French and Indian War.

In Language Arts we have 4 subjects:

Spelling: We have been studying spelling in 3 different groups. Group 1 has 15 words, and Group 2 and 3 have 20 words. Everyone is welcome to try the bonus words.

Reading: We have done Reading out of our green literature books. We read reading Onion John which won the Newbery Award in 1960. Currently, we have been reading Johnny Tremain.

Writing : We have been open to many types of writing styles, such as poetry, fiction, and non-fiction. At this moment, we are working on science fiction. Mr. Burns came and read us a short story called The Sound Of Thunder.

Language: In language we are studying states of being, nouns, verbs, and parts of speech. We are now learning how to graph a sentence, and reviewing some older material.

We have two groups of 7th Graders. Our main teachers are Mrs. Yoder and Ms. Etheridge. No matter what class you're homeroom is in, the Seventh grade is fun.

The Teachers have also added on electives. There are four in total: Creative Writing, Journalism, Life Skills, and Educational Activities. Every student was put into two of them, in which the classes were mixed with 7th and 8th graders.
