To Mrs. Sargent's Second Grade Class
Math we have learned, place values adding with regrouping evens and odds telling time counting coins naming large numbers story problems fractions
The Science Method and Processes the Body System Leaves and Weather Antarctica We are looking forward to frogs, ants, lady bugs, and more!
Our students will read and spell the first and second hundred Fry's Basic Sight Words by spring! We do weekly spelling lists, word walls, word families, spelling games like sparkle, and other various activities to help us reach our goal , Some students have moved beyond the second grade hundred words, while others are working to reach their goal.
We have weakly homework packets that reinforce skills we have learned in class. Our students and parents are excellent at completing and turning in weekly packets.
We have many other adults in our class each week to help with small groups, individual assistance, and other classroom needs.
We have a class hamster who was a present from Ms. Sargent for Christmas. We named her Angel and we absolutely adore her! Once a week, we clean her cage together, pass her around so that everyone has a few minutes , and talk about what we have learned from having a class pet.
On Thursday mornings we meet with our 7th grade buddies from Mrs. Ethridge's room. We do crafts, play games, do science activities, and read together.
So far this year we have gone to The Desert Garden Botanical Garden Grandma's House Eatza Pizza Phoenix Children's Theater and Cookie Company
