There are three teachers that teach resource. Mrs.Susan Parra, Mrs. Jane Isaacs, and Ms. Janet Maceyko.
Mrs. Parra was born in New York. She moved to Arizona 26 years ago and has been teaching Special Ed for 25 years. Ten of those years have been here at Horizon School. She received her bachlors degree and her masters degree in special ed. Currently Mrs. Parra teaches reading, writing, and math. She works with all different grade levels, 1st - 6th. She works with some students with their behavior. Mrs. Parra's job is to present the learning in a way that is understandable to students. She uses pictures, graphic organizers, highlighting pens, manipulatives and many other tools. The students in her classes do many hands -on activities. Yhey dissect owl pellets, build volcanoes, and study authors. Mrs, Parra works with students, teachers, and parents to develop individual plans for each student.
Mrs. Maceyko is an Arizona native! She attended elementary and high school here in Phoenix. She has always taught in special education resource programs. Mrs. Isaacs has worked in various schools inRoosevelt, Creighton, and Washington Districts. This year, sheworking with our new 8th graders and almost new 7th graders. She has had to brush up on her own skills especialy in math.
