Mission Statement I will value each student as an individual. I will teach them to bring out their talents to work for them, and help them understand and challenges exist to be overcome. I will always be available to help them, not just with their school work but socially and emotionally as well. My students will succeed, not only in my classroom but in all of life.
Meet the Teacher I am in my second year at Horizon, and I teach 8th grade Civics and Language Arts. I am married and have two lovely teenaged daughters. I enjoy hiking , cooking, and reading. Doesn't everyone?
In civics we are studying how the government works. We have discussed many topics such as : running for government, voting, citizenship, money management, etc. In language we get a new list of spelling words each week and have a test on them every Friday. We get work sheets to help us with our grammar. As part of of our genre study this quarter, our class is doing this writing activity on Scholastic.com. We will publish our work online. Modified on 4/16/03 The class is split into may different reading groups. Each group is assigned a specific book to read and write about. There is also a group who meets with Ms. Brulles.
Mrs. Brulles is working with a group of students who are reading some of the great Classics. This group has been working on reading the book, To Kill a Mocking Bird. We have read Romeo and Juliet and Lord of the Flies. We have written character essays and short essays for the books we have read. Literature projects and lit logs.
