Glendale American School offers a variety of developmentally appropriate preschool programs for 3, 4, and 5 year old children. The preschools operate closely with the schedule of the school district with occasional variations. Parents will be notified of any calendar changes. A.M. and P.M. classes are available. Availability is dependent on enrollment.

 

PHILOSOPHY

Glendale American School Preschool Program offers developmentally appropriate practices designed to enhance the social, emotional, cognitive, physical, and creative development of the individual child. These programs utilize the High/Scope Methodology based on the following goals:

 

 

COMMUNITY EDUCATION

Community Education Preschool offers a three hour program, 4 days a week with A.M. and P.M. classes available. Parents may choose from two day or four day programs. All of these programs require annual registration and monthly tuition fees. These programs do not require district residency, Children must be three years old by August 31 of current year.

 

 

COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIP

This program is funded by the state and is based on eligibility requirements. These include the following:

  1. Children must be three years of age by August 31 of the current school year.
  2. Children must reside in the Glendale Elementary School District boundaries.
  3. Families must meet income guidelines set by the state.

All parents must complete a registration packet to include the following:

IMMUNIZATION REQUIREMENTS

Laws and regulations by the State of Arizona require that all children must have current immunization records on file before the starting of school.  These immunizations must be kept current throughout the school year.

Children 3 years of age must have the following:

4 DTPs, at least 3 Polios, 1 MMR, 4 HIBs, 3 Hepatitis B, and at least 1 Hepatitis A with 2nd scheduled for 6 months later.

Children 4 years of age must have the following:

5 DTPs, 4 Polios, 2 MMRs, 4 HIBs, 3 Hepatitis B and at least 1 Hepatitis A with a 2nd scheduled for 6 months later.

CHILDREN WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO START PRESCHOOL UNTIL ALL IMMUNIZATIONS ARE CURRENT!

 

 

PARENT RESPONSIBILITIES

We believe the most important influence in a child's education and development is his/her parents and home life.  The preschool program will not be effective without close cooperation and understanding between home and school.  We encourage our parents to participate in our preschool programs in the following ways:
